DIN 42CrMo4 Steel is a common chromium-molybdenum steel that usually used after quenched and tempered, with high intensity, high hardenability. DIN 42CrMo4 round steel has better performance than 34CrMo4 steel due to the carbon and chromium content is higher. 42CrMo4 alloy steel| 1.7225 | SCM440 | 4140 has higher strength and hardenability. DIN 42CrMo4 alloy material also has high fatigue strength and good low-temperature impact toughness. The temper brittleness is not obvious.

4. 42CrMo4 steel Heat treatment Related
- Annealing of 42CrMo4 Alloy structural steel
Slowly heated to 872 ℃ and allow enough times, let the steel to be thoroughly heated, Then cool slowly in the furnace. The 42CrMo4 alloy steel will get MAX 250 HB （Brinell hardness）.
- Hardening of DIN Alloy structural steel 42CrMo4
First quenching heated slowly to 880°C, Then after adequate soaking at this temperature quench in oil or water. Temper as soon as tools reach room temperature. Second quenching heat to 780-820°C， then quenching in oil or water.
- Tempering of 42CrMo4 Alloy structural steel
Heat to 205-649°C, then cool in water or oil. normal delivery hardness 18-22 HRC.
- Forging of Alloy Steel 42CrMo4
DIN 42CrMo4 alloy steel is forge at 926 to 1205°C (1700 to 2200°F)
