AISI/SAE (American Iron & Steel Institute ) steel specifications cover a wide range of steel types, including carbon steel, alloy steel, tool steel and stainless steel. AISI steel grades are becoming increasingly popular in the world, primarily due to their use in the oil and gas industries. AISI grades are sometimes referred to as SAE designations.
